Broken to Risen – God’s Purpose in Our Pain
Share
Dear friends of Broken to Risen,
In a world that often promises comfort and ease, God’s path to true power and purpose looks very different. When God wants to make a man powerful, He doesn’t crown him first—He breaks him. He strips away comfort, pride, and carefully laid plans until only what is truly real remains. This isn’t punishment—it’s preparation. Pain stretches the weak places within us so we can carry the full weight of our destiny.
Every bad day, betrayal, and heartbreak is God molding us, piece by piece. We don’t grow in comfort—we grow in chaos. The pressure breaking you now is the same pressure that will make you unstoppable. When you’re down on your knees, thinking it’s over, remember: it’s not the end—it’s the rebuild.
Most people quit when it hurts. But the chosen ones walk through the fire until their purpose starts glowing. Every tear, trial, and sleepless night is proof that God isn’t done with you yet.
Biblical Examples: From Brokenness to Glory
The Bible is filled with stories of those who were shattered before they were exalted.
-
Job’s Unshakable Faith
Job lost his wealth, health, and children in rapid succession. Yet he refused to curse God, declaring, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him” (Job 13:15). God restored him twofold, proving that faith endures even when life crumbles. -
Joseph: From Pit to Palace
Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned unjustly, Joseph clung to God’s promises. He rose to become Egypt’s second-in-command, saving his family and a nation. His story shows how God uses hardship to prepare us for greater purpose (Genesis 37–50). -
David’s Trials and Triumph
Pursued by King Saul, David hid in caves and faced betrayal, yet he never lost faith. He wrote psalms like Psalm 23 amid fear. His journey from shepherd to king reveals that God upholds those who seek Him in chaos.
Modern Testimonies: Real Lives Transformed
These truths aren’t just ancient—they live on today.

Corrie ten Boom: Holocaust Survivor
During WWII, Corrie and her family hid Jews from the Nazis, leading to their arrest and imprisonment in concentration camps. Despite losing her sister and enduring horrors, Corrie forgave her captors and shared God’s love worldwide. Her book The Hiding Place demonstrates faith’s power to overcome hatred. -
Joni Eareckson Tada: Quadriplegic After a Diving Accident
Paralyzed from the neck down as a teen, Joni wrestled with God but discovered purpose in ministry. She paints with her mouth, writes books, and advocates for the disabled. Her life proves that God’s grace sustains through unimaginable suffering.
These stories echo the timeless truth: Pain doesn’t destroy the faithful—it shapes them. As Romans 5:3-4 declares:
“We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
If you’re facing trials today, take heart—God isn’t done yet. He’s building something unbreakable in you. Let this broken season prepare you to rise in His glory.
Pray with me:
Lord, in our brokenness, remind us of Your faithful preparation. Help us trust Your process, cling to Your promises, and rise stronger in Your purpose. Amen.
Blessings on your journey from broken to risen,
The Broken to Risen Team
